Description: Edward Grant Barrow (1868-1953) spent much of his adult life connected to Major League Baseball, primarily with the New York Yankees and the Boston Red Sox. He was both a manager and executive. While with the Yankees, he created a dynasty by finding players like Joe DiMaggio and Lou Gehrig.

In this 1943 letter to a mother helping her son with researching Lou Gehrig’s life, he suggests that he contact Gehrig’s wife and gives her New York City address.

He signs "E. G. Barrow" as President and General Manager of the Yankees. Typed on a 11 1/2" x 8 1/2" sheet of Yankees stationery.

Comes with a response to a letter this mother also wrote to the Baseball Hall Of Fame. Item #A00443.
