Description: American genre painter William Verplanck Birney (1850-1919) penned and signed this letter to a Mr. Eddy inviting him and his wife to “drop in and see five new pictures I painted during the summer.”
Birney exhibited at the National Academy of Design, the 1889 Paris Universal Exposition, Buffalo’s Pan-American Exposition of 1901 and the 1904 St. Louis Universal Exposition. He was one of only two Americans whose paintings sold at the 1883 International Exhibition in Munich.
Written on one page of a sheet of paper folded to: 8” x 5”. Item #A00981.
Condition: Fold lines, light toning around edges of paper, otherwise in very good condition.
