Description: This is a classic Nankivell etching, expertly depicting the architectural richness of New York City along with its humanity… a child is riding a tricycle while a mom ties her child’s shoe.
The print is inscribed in graphite: “To Janet with love and best wishes from Edith”, as well as, titled and signed at the lower margin.
Edith Nankivell (1896-1962) was born in New York City and had as her mentor, her father, Frank Nankivell, a prominent Australian artist. She is most known for her architectural prints of New York City buildings and bridges. Her works are in the collections of numerous notable institutions, including: the New York Historical Society, Metropolitan Museum of Art, etc.
