Description: American artist Ben Shahn (1898-1969) signed this portrait photograph taken by the well-known photography firm, Pach Bros. of New York. The chest-up portrait shows a stern-faced, mustachioed Shahn against a plain, softly-lit background. He has signed in ink on the ample margin below the image.

The Lithuanian-born Shahn is best known for his left-leaning works of social realism. He completed numerous murals, including the Jersey Homesteads Mural and The Meaning of Social Security.

Condition: Edges of mount have some nicks, overall very good condition.
