This print, featuring elegant figures floating weightlessly among mathematical symbols and a mid-take off space shuttle, references Loewy’s body of  work for NASA.  From 1967 to 1973 NASA employed Loewy and his firm as “habitability consultants,” designing forward thinking, livable (though not always practical) space shuttles and stations.  He produced over 3,000 designs for the agency during this time.

Raymond Loewy (1893–1986) was a French-born American industrial designer who conceived some of the most iconic objects and advertising imagery of the 20th century, including: the Shell, Exxon, TWA and the former BP logos, the Greyhound Scenicruiser bus, Coca-Cola vending machines, the Lucky Strike package, Coldspot refrigerators, the Studebaker Avanti and Champion, and the Air Force One livery.
