Description: Renowned author and playwright Alexandre Dumas (1802-1870) scrawled this brief letter c. 1859 to a Monsieur Verteuil. Dumas writes that he will soon begin work on “our play” and that he may have need of 5 or 600 francs in the future.
 
Dumas found early success as a playwright, but he is best remembered for his beloved adventure novels such as The Three MusketeersThe Count of Monte Cristo, and Twenty Years After.
 
Letter written in French on one side of a folded sheet of blue stationery. Measures 6 ¾” x 8 ½” when unfolded.
 
Condition: Fold lines, lightly soiled, otherwise in very good condition.
