Description: This graphically exciting lithograph by Gruau could literally sweep the viewer off his/her feet.
It is #185 of an edition of 300 and is signed in graphite lower right. The 20″ x 17 1/2″ image is printed on a 25″ x 20 3/4″ deckle edge sheet of heavy wove cream-colored “Arches France” paper with a Circle Gallery blindstamp at the lower left.
Verso is stamped: “1990 Rene Gruau”.
Rene Gruau (1909-2004) was a fashion illustrator with a distinctive, aspirational aesthetic that continues to influence the worlds of fashion, advertising and design. His work was favored by Christian Dior, his sensibility helped to define the legendary brand. Gruau made work for numerous fashion houses and magazines, including Marie-Claire, Vogue, Balenciaga, Balmain and Lanvin.
