Description: This festive print by Japanese artist Kimura has the tent flaps or curtain raised on the densely packed capital city of Spain. Signed and titled in graphite at the lower margin: “Madrid Risaburo Kimura”. It is also noted to be an “H.C.” (hors de commerce), essentially an artist’s proof.

Risaburo Kimura (b. 1924) was born in Japan and moved to New York City in 1964. His works are in the collections of a host of prominent art institutions, including: the Museum of Modern Art, Brooklyn Museum, National Museum of Modern Art in Kyoto, Japan, etc. This print is part of his best known series… “Great Cities of the World”.
