Description: In this short autograph letter signed, the recently retired Supreme Court Justice confirms an appointment with Rehabiah Lewin-Epstein. Lewin-Epstein was the Director of the Tel Aviv Bureau of the American Economic Committee for Palestine. The original transmittal envelope addressed in Brandeis’ hand is still with the letter.

Louis Dembitz Brandeis (1856-1941) was associate justice on the U.S. Supreme Court from 1916-1939. Throughout this latter part of his life he was extremely involved with the American Zionist movement and, not surprisingly, with the recipient of this letter and the organization in which he was involved.

Written on a 7″ x 6″ sheet of stationery imprinted “2205 California Street Washington, D.C.” Item #A01407
