Description: This friendly typed letter from United States President Franklin Roosevelt to New York State Senator William T. Byrne reads: My dear Bill Many thanks for that nice letter you sent me. I am indeed glad to have it and appreciate your letting me know of your approval of the address.” Roosevelt has crossed out the typed “Senator Byrne” in the salutation and written “Bill” in its place.
Written on an 8 3/4″ x 6 3/4″ sheet of “The White House Washington” imprinted stationery. Item #A01654
Franklin Delano Roosevelt (1882-1945) became the 32nd U.S. President in 1933 and served until his death in 1945.
William T. Byrne served as a Member of the New York Senate from 1923 to 1936, the end of the year this letter was written. He went on to become a Member of the U.S. House of Representatives from New York, serving from 1937 to 1952.
Condition: Mailing fold, lightly toned especially around perimeter, left and right edges slightly uneven. Generally good condition with a large, clear signature.
