Description: This vibrant aquatint captures the fluidity and sensuality of the female form. Rouault signed it in the plate with his initials and the date “’36”. This print was etched and printed at the studio of Lacouri√®re in Paris in an edition of 250, with no impressions signed in pencil.

Platemark: 12 1/4″ x 8 1/4″. Printed on a 17 1/4″ x 13 1/4″ sheet of cream wove paper with two deckle edges and a Montval watermark of an “M” superimposed over a “V” and “France”. In a linen mat and framed to: 20 3/4″ x 16 1/4″.

Georges Henri Rouault (1871-1958), French painter and printmaker, had a profound impact on the Fauvist and Expressionist art movements during the early 20th century.

Condition:¬†Remnants of hinging tape on verso with some bleedthrough in the blank margins, slight toning at mat window, otherwise in good condition… a fine, bright impression. Accompanied by a 1967 bill of sale from Gallery Reese Palley (New Jersey).
