Description: American conservationist and children’s book author Thornton Burgess  (1874-1965) penciled: “your friend Thornton W. Burgess April 26/ 35″ on this clipped page from an album or planner.

Burgess’ writing career was as fecund as the environment and wildlife he loved so much. He wrote more than 170 books and 15,000 newspaper columns during his career which spanned over fifty years. Peter Rabbit and Peter Cottontail appeared in several tales…a nod to Beatrix Potter.
