Description

Description: We offer a group of 13 original photographs and 22 photogravures of The Hill School, a prep school in Pottstown, Pennsylvania. The school was founded in 1851 and several of these images are dated 1929. The photos show different buildings on the school’s campus, like Memorial Hall, the infirmary, and the Upper School, as well as, several interior shots, including one of the library. The photogravures show additional views of the school.

Some notable graduates of The Hill School include the actors Harry Hamlin and James Cromwell, the Olympic athletes Sabin Carr, Ralph Hills, and William Porter, as well as the sons of U.S. President Donald Trump (Donald Trump, Jr. and Eric Trump).

The photographs are all roughly the same size, the largest being: 9 3/4″ x 7 3/4″. Several are identified on the back and date stamped January 25, 1929. One of the photogravures has been folded in half and is on a sheet of paper that measures 9 1/2″ x 13″. The others seem to have been removed from a book and measure roughly 6 3/4″ x 9 1/4″. Several of the photogravures have been trimmed to remove their blank margins save for the identifying captions. Item #P00184

Condition: A few instances of edge chips and minor creasing, glue residue at blank margins of some of the photogravures. Generally very good condition.
