Description: Italian baritone Antonio Scotti (1866-1936) signed this slip of paper to “Mr. Henry S. Chapman with best wishes A. Scotti N.Y. Nov. 25 1922”.
Scotti sang at London’s Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, Milan’s La Scala, and was the principal baritone of the Metropolitan Opera for 33 seasons.
The 3 1/4″ x 5 1/8″ piece of paper signed by Scotti has been glued to a larger album page that measures 4 1/2″ x 5 3/4″ and has a handwritten note (in another hand): “A. Scotti World’s Greatest Baritone”. We include the address panel, written in Scotti’s hand, of the original transmittal envelope. Item #A01197
Condition: Water droplet over the “1922”, light smudge on the “H” in “Henry”, otherwise good condition with an exuberantly bold signature.
