Description: Just months before Brandeis was sworn in as an Associate Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court, he writes to Rehabiah Lewin-Epstein confirming a telegram in which he states “Consult Dr. Stephen Wise, and act on his opinion on Gluskin matter.” This typed letter signed, dated Dec. 24, 1915, is written on “Provisional Executive Committee for General Zionist Affairs.” Brandeis is listed on the letterhead as Chairman, Dr. Wise as Vice-Chairman.

Louis Dembitz Brandeis (1856-1941) was Associate Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court from 1916 to 1939. Throughout the latter part of his life he was extremely involved with the American Zionist movement.

Ze’ev Gluskin (1859-1949) was one of the founders of the Menuhah ve-Nahalah Society which established the settlement of Rehovot. When WWI broke out he went to Alexandria to help organize aid both for refugees from Erez, Israel and for Jews who had remained there.
