Description: A large hand painted award for the 21st National Sängerfest in 1906. Painted by Theo Henninger in gouache on board and housed in a period frame with a beaded inner lip. Sight size is: 33 ½” x 23”, outer dimensions of the frame are approximately 40 ½” x 30”. The painting features a lovely illustration of a Greco-Roman woman holding an olive branch and a lyre with a laurel border in vivid aquamarine with a red seal at the bottom. It is a unique example of early 20th century design. Signed by the artist at the lower left margin and by the numerous jurors and committee members at the lower right. Item #FA00124.

The Nordöstlicher Sängerbund von Amerika is the umbrella organization for German choruses in the Mid-Atlantic area ranging from Long Island, NY in the North and through Delaware, Pennsylvania, Maryland to Washington, DC in the South.

Condition: Not examined out of frame. There are some faint areas of foxing in the figure and some of the beaded compo on the frame is flaking off, but overall the piece is in good presentable condition.
