Description: German-American mathematician and electrical engineer Charles Steinmetz (1865-1923) made this $27.13 check out to J. T. Lyon on December 6th, 1905.
Steinmetz revolutionized the electric power industry in the United States with his work in developing alternating current and his ground-breaking discoveries in the understanding of hysteresis. He held over 200 patents at the time of his death and earned the monikers “Forger of Thunderbolts” and “The Wizard of Schenectady”. Steinmetz was a professor at Union College in Schenectady, NY.
