Description: In this autograph letter signed, Hassam writes in full: “My dear Mr. Cauldwell, I am having an exhibition of my pictures and drawings at Gillespies  and I am writing to you to whet your interest in these things recalling your very kind letter of some years back with regard to a water color you bought. There are a number of the smaller canvases that are city nights. I hope that you and your friends may be interested in the exhibition.”

Written on the recto of two adjoining pages of a folded sheet of “The Players” imprinted stationery. Page size: 6 3/4″ x 4 1/2″. Item #A01470

Frederick Childe Hassam (1859-1935) was a major proponent of Impressionism in America during the late 19th c. and early 20th c. He was elected Academician of the National Academy of Design in 1906. A prolific artist, his work is in the collections of most major American art institutions, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, National Gallery of Art, NY Historical Society, etc.

Condition: Mailing fold, otherwise very good.
