Description: This colorful, patriotic silk ribbon from the 1893 Columbian Exposition held in Chicago, Illinois celebrates the 400th anniversary of Christopher Columbus’ 1492 “discovery” of America. The ribbon is decorated with a woven image of an eagle holding an American flag at the top of a globe that reads: “World’s Columbian Exposition Chicago 1893.” Beneath that is a black and white image of the “Landing of Columbus Oct 12th 1492,” as well as a composition with an eagle perched on an American flag-emblazoned shield that is flanked by two gold-tasseled American flags. The words: “In God we Trust” are at the very bottom of the ribbon above the blue thread tassel.
