Description: John Sherman (1823-1900), an Ohio Republican, served in both houses of the U.S. Congress, as well as, Secretary of the Treasury and Secretary of State. This two-page letter, written a few months before the Anti-trust legislation that bears his name, acknowledges his honorary membership in the Young Men’s Republican Club of Findlay. He goes on with an optimistic note about the Republican Party… "Your last election was a happy augury that the good county of Hancock may be enrolled with the other Republican counties of Ohio."

Written on a folded piece of "Senate Chamber Washington" stationery measuring 8" x 5" (folded). Item #A00965.

Condition: Tiny separations at edges of fold lines repaired with archival tissue/tape, otherwise very good condition.
