Description: In this letter signed to General M. R. Patrick, Wright states in full: “Sir: I have the honor to advise you that a copy of a map of Battle Ground of Aug. 28, 29, and 30, 1862 in vicinity of Groveton, Prince William Co. Va. – Warren – (Bull Run) is sent to you by to-day’s mail. Very respectfully, Your obedient servant, H. G. Wright.”

Letter is written on a 10″ x 8″ sheet of stationery imprinted: “Office of the Chief of Engineers United States Army”. Item #A01645

Horatio Gouverneur Wright (1820-1899) commanded the VI Corps during the Civil War. He was an engineer and post war he was involved in the building of the Brooklyn Bridge and the Washington Monument. He ultimately achieved the rank of brigadier general.

Marsena R. Patrick (1811-1888) was appointed a brevet major general during the Civil War. He was involved with the I Corps during the 2nd Bull Run and Antietam.

Condition: Lightly toned, mailing fold lines with short separations at the edge reinforced with archival tissue tape. Generally very good.
