Description: We offer an original chromolithograph by Clay, Cosack and Company of an elaborate porcelain wine cooler manufactured by the Royal Porcelain Works of Berlin. The image is 9 ½” x 13 ½” on a sheet of heavy paper measuring: 14” x 19 ½”. The print is titled across the lower margin “Wine Cooler, Porcelain. Clay, Cosack & Co, Cromo-Lith. Buffalo, N. Y.” Item #PR00366.
This was printed for “Treasures of Art, Industry and Manufacture Represented in the American Centennial Exhibition at Philadelphia 1876” edited by C. B. Norton and published by Cosack & Company, Buffalo, NY, 1877. This series of images were some of the finest chromolithographic works made in America at the time. The rich color, crisp details, and exacting proportions are still quite pleasing to modern sensibilities.
Condition: The image is clean and crisp with good color. The margins are full and free from any adhesive, though soiled with short edge tears.
