Description: Episcopal clergyman and educator William Muhlenberg (1796-1877) scrawled and signed this quotation at St. Luke’s Hospital in New York City in 1871. The quotation reads: “I would not live always? May Henceforth my song live always I shall – yea – always as long as Christ Himself lives – not till He rises again shall I cease in His glory with Him to reign”.
Muhlenberg was an early leader of the liturgical movement in Anglican Christianity. He founded St. Luke’s Hospital and is considered to be the father of Christian parochial schools in the U.S.
Written on a piece of paper measuring 12 1/2 ” x 8” which is folded in half. Item #A00770.
Condition: Fold lines, a couple of short tears at edges not affecting text, pencil notations at top left and bottom edge, otherwise in very good condition with bold, black ink.
