Description: In this part-printed document, Victoria appoints Opie Smith to be Assistant Surgeon in the Second Regiment of Dragoon Guards. Victoria signed at the upper left and Lord Palmerston signed at the lower right.

Written on a 9 1/4″ x 13 3/4″ sheet of paper with original linen backing. Item #A01478

Queen Victoria (1819-1901) was Queen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland for just over 63 years.

Henry John Temple, 3rd Viscount Palmerston (1784-1865) served as Secretary of War, Foreign Secretary, Home Secretary, and twice as Prime Minister.

Condition: Fold lines, mounting residue on verso, scattered, light soil, otherwise good condition with both signatures large and bold. Comes with a 19th century steel engraved portrait.
