Description: Simon Cameron (1799-1889) was a Republican powerbroker in Pennsylvania during the mid-19th century. He served several terms in the U.S. Senate, but is probably most remembered as part of Lincoln’s cabinet, since he held the position of U.S. Secretary of War during the first two years of the Civil War.

This short noted sent from Washington D.D. in 1847 was written while Cameron was a U.S. Senator. It states in full: "I have received yours of the 18th inst."
