Description: This broadside is a charming example of transparency in town government. The town of Boxford, MA, on March 28th, 1844, published this list of "The Receipts and Expenditures of the Town of Boxford, for the Year Ending April 1, 1844." The list of expenditures includes categories such as "Constables’ Services: 1842, On account of Schools, Roads and Bridges, Pathing Snow, and Town Paupers." The Receipts include items such as "County and Town Tax, Massachusetts School Fund, and Cash received from the State for Military services."

The entire report is surrounded by a decorative geometric border with rosettes at each corner. The broadside measures approximately 16 1/2" x 11". Item #AM00093

Condition: The broadside has several light creases, particularly at the upper blank margin and a few light dampstains, especially in right blank margin. Otherwise very good condition.
