Description: James Fenimore Cooper (1789-1851)  wrote out this part-printed check made payable to himself for $10. Cooper, a much beloved American author, wrote the Leatherstocking Tales, most notably: The Last of the Mohicans and The Pioneers. This 1842 check from the Otsego County Bank is signed “J. Fenimore Cooper” and is achivally matted with a 19th c. steel engraved portrait.

Check measures: 2 1/4″ x 5 3/4″. Overall 16” x 12 1/4”. Item #A01309

Condition: Small nick to bottom blank right corner, otherwise very good condition.
