Description: In this part-printed document Trumbull, as “Captain-General and Commander in Chief in and over the State of Connecticut”, appoints Elisha Whitmore “2d Lieutenant of the 2d Troop of Horse in the 7th Regiment of Cavalry”.

Jonathan Trumbull, Jr. (1740-1809) served as Continental Army Paymaster, Comptroller of the Treasury, Secretary and Aide-de-Camp to General George Washington, Speaker of the House of Representatives, and Governor of Connecticut.
