Description: In this part-printed document on paper, NY Governor George Clinton “…do appoint and constitute you the said Charles Dennis Lieutenant of a Company in the Regiment of Militia in the county of Washington whereof Simon De Rider Esquire is Lieutenant-Colonel-Commandant…” It is signed in brown ink lower right: “Geo. Clinton” on the 20th day of April 1802.

George Clinton (1739-1812) served as Governor of New York from 1777 to 1795 and from 1801 to 1804. He also was U.S. Vice President (under two different presidents) from 1805 until his death in 1812.

Condition: A critter has munched on a piece of the upper blank margin, fold lines with a few pin holes. Generally good condition with a strong signature.
