Description: We offer an excellent regional map of the Northeastern American coastline extending from the Hamptons to Acadia. The plate is 17" x 13" on laid paper that is 14 1/2" x 18 5/8". Hand-colored in green and yellow, printed in Venice in 1785 as one of 12 sections comprising the Italian edition of Mitchell’s Map of North America. The full title is L’Acadia, Le Provincie Di Sagadahook E Main, La Nuova Hampshire, La Rhode Island E Parte Di Massachusset E Connecticut. Item #PR00129. Antonio Zatta (1757–1797) was an Italian cartographer who was based in Venice. His major contributions include the Atlante Novissimo, a four volume atlas of the world. Condition: There is a 3/8" vertical line of toning down the middle of the paper but the piece is in very good condition.
