Description: In this 1785 manuscript document signed, Cadwalader writes: “Pay to Doct. John Jones on order thirty Dollars”. The doctor is possibly the preeminent Pennsylvania physician who wrote: “Plain, Concise, Practical Remarks on the Treatment of Wounds & Fractures” (1775).

John Cadwalader (1742-1786) commanded the Pennsylvania troops during the Revolutionary War and was at Valley Forge with George Washington. After the war he returned to his estate in Maryland.

This 4″ x 7 1/4″ document is written on the 8th of July, 1785 from Maryland. Item #A01354

Condition: Two short edge tears repaired with archival tissue/tape, 4 vertical fold lines. Two “x” cancellations, one of which intersects “John”, generally good condition.
