Description: In this part-printed vellum document, New York Governor George Clinton appoints Jared Langdon of the County of Suffolk “To be one of the Surrogates of the said County of Suffolk… full power… to… administer… any wills”. It is signed Geo. Clinton at bottom folded margin.

George Clinton (1739-1812) served as Governor of New York from 1777 to 1795 and from 1801 to 1804. He also was U.S. Vice President (under two different presidents) from 1805 until his death in 1812.
