Description: We offer a pencil signed block print by Fugi Nakamizo. The image is 11 ⅝”x 12” on Strathmore Japan paper (16 ½” x 13 ⅞”). In a departure from Nakamizo’s typical style, simplified forms compose this image of a young Japanese girl holding flowers. A bird perches on a branch next to her, with a gracefully swooping road in the distance. Item #PR00186.
Fugi Nakamizo was employed by the Federal Public Works of Art Project during the Great Depression and was held in a Japanese American camp from 1942-1946. His work is in the collections of the Smithsonian.
Condition: There are two small pieces of adhesive tape on recto at the top margin and some subtle toning, overall the piece is in good condition.
