Description: These two late 1880's cabinet card photos are signed by Levi P. Morton and his wife, Anna. Both photos show the heads and shoulders of Levi and Anna Morton in almost complete profile, though they were taken at different studios. Levi Morton’s was taken at the Parkinson studio in New York and is on a gilded bevel-edged mount. Anna Morton’s portrait was taken at the studio of Thomas Houseworth of San Francisco.
Levi Parsons Morton (1824-1920) served as the 22nd Vice President (1889-1893) under Benjamin Harrison, and later as the 31st Governor of New York (1895-1897). Anna Morton (1846-1918) was the second wife of Levi Morton, and served as Second Lady of the United States as well as First Lady of New York during her husband’s political career.
Both photographs measure 5 ¾” x 4” on mounts that measure 6 ½” x 4 ¼”. Item #A00844.
Condition: A few errant marks, Levi’s signature is not as bold as Anna’s, otherwise both photos are in very good condition.
