Special Limited Edition, first issue in this format. Size: Octavo (standard book size). Publisher's copy, noted in period ink on Limitation page and on spine label of slipcase, one of 500 copies. Extra spine label tipped in, tan cloth spine, brown paper over boards, paper spine label, pages unopened and uncut, xviii + 327 pp., short biography of Sill, frontis portrait of Sill with tissue. Includes a handwritten letter signed by Frank Dempster Sherman, architect and poet, to Albert Houghton thanking the publisher for a copy of the book sent to him (dated August 1, 1902): "My Dear Mr. Houghton, I am more thankful than I can write for your kind remembrance of my devotion to Sill's poems, and the beautiful copy which you have been good enough to present to me is already my prize. Never did a handful of poems more honestly merit the fine setting you have given to these." Sill was born in Windsor, Connecticut, in 1841, died in 1887. "Edward Rowland Sill was a poet of rare gifts and his death, when scarcely in middle life, cut short a richly maturing talent." In a plain brown paper dust jacket, which is in a Brodart cover and slipcase. Offsetting on end papers from the jacket, small smudge on title page, otherwise a Fine copy. There is offsetting on the letter as well; it was laid inside the front cover, and there is an ink stain on bottom right corner.
