Description: Scottish poet and playwright Joanna Baillie (1762-1851) boldly signed this closing of a letter “Yours affectionately J Baillie” at her home, Holly Bush Hill in Hampstead. Baillie wrote lyric poems, often on the subjects of nature or youth, and her plays were known for their intimate examinations of the human psyche.
Paper trimmed to roughly 3 1/8” x 5 ½”. Item #A00800.
Condition: Small hole at left margin, ¾” tear repaired with archival tissue, mounting remnants on verso have lightly bled through, otherwise in good condition with a nice bold signature.
