Description: Iconic jazz musician Louis Armstrong (1901-1971) inscribed and signed this publicity photo of himself playing the trumpet to Dorothy Watson. He signed twice, once as “Louis Armstrong” in the bottom margin, as well as, “Satchmo” on the white cloth hanging from his hand.
Armstrong made a name for himself in the 1920s with his inventive trumpet playing and his deep gravelly voice. He was one of the first African American to gain celebrity with Americans of all races and is remembered for such hits as “Hello Dolly!,” “Mack the Knife,” and “What a Wonderful World”.

Condition: The “Dorothy Watson” of the inscription is faded, the signature is slightly smudged towards the end of “Armstrong”, two pinholes at top blank margin, corners bumped, otherwise in good condition and quite displayable.
