Description

Description: Academy Award-winning actor Gig Young (1913-1978) signed this dashing photo of himself twice, once on the front, and once on the back. The front inscription reads: “For My Dear friend Darline With love and affection always Gig miss you my dear”. There is a lengthier autograph letter signed on the verso that reads: “My Dear Darline, Please forgive me for being so very late in answering you. I loved your letter and of course I remember you, how could I forget your lovely quality you[sic] humanity. It all seems like yesterday, And I want to wish you the very best always Gig If you’re ever around where I do a play, just call me and be my guest.”

Gig Young performed in numerous plays, films, and television shows throughout the 1940s, 50s, and 60s. He won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role as Rocky in They Shoot Horses, Don’t They? (1969). He is thought to have killed his wife and then himself in 1978, though there was no clear motive.
