The gleaming arts and crafts vase and voluptuous floral arrangement it contains are rendered with broad, confident brush strokes that feel urgent and thoroughly modern.
Gertrude Lambert (1885-1942) was an American artist who was known for her cityscapes and still life painting. She exhibited at the San Francisco Panama-Pacific Exhibition in 1915. She was a distinguished student at the at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts; often cited in art journals for her excellent work in group exhibitions with the likes of Marie Cassatt and Childe Hassam. Her work is now in collection at the PAFA.
