Description

Description: We offer a very large ironstone pitcher for the Silicated Carbon Filter Company. It is 13” wide from spout to handle and 10” high. The manufacturer's stamp on the underside is difficult to read, but it appears to have a turret and the company name: "[?] Castle" beneath which is “Made in England”. It is decorated on both sides of the cylindrical form with helpful instructions for "cleansing" your water filter. This piece was likely an advertising display pitcher for the industrial and domestic water filters the Silicated Carbon Filter Company manufactured. In the late 19th century water filters became increasingly popular as the water supply in Victorian towns and cities were notoriously poor. Item #DA00205.

Condition: Near fine untouched condition
