Description

Description: We offer a hand colored optical engraving of the royal gardens at Schuarzenberg. The plate is 10 ¾” x 15” on ivory laid paper that is 13 ¾” x 17 3/8”. The title under the image reads “Vue due Jardin du Prince de Schuarzenberg du cote du Bassin rond vers le Palais. A Paris chez Mesard rue Grenetat a la Renommee de la Cornemuse.”

The dramatic perspective in this engraving is emphasized by the topiary trees and elaborate, swirling hedges. The roof of the palace appears just over the tops of the trees, while people marvel at the fountain, point at the statuary and carry watercans. Item #PR00250.

Condition: The print is lightly soiled, there is a subtle dampstain at the right corner blank margin, and a light vertical crease, otherwise good condition.
