Description: Rear Admiral Sir William Parry (1790-1855) signed this kindly reassuring closing of a letter that reads: “You may be quite sure I will do all I can for you, being very sincerely yr friend W. Parry”.
Parry is remembered for his 1819 voyage to find the Northwest Passage and an 1827 attempt to reach the North Pole, an expedition where he reached 82°45′ latitude, setting a record that stood until 1875 when it was broken by Albert Hastings Markham.
