Description

Description: We offer a 53” x 40” Navajo Rug, finely woven in warm grey, tan, and black and white, with a small dark red stripe on the short sides. Woven with handspun wool, the rug retains it's original tag from the Southwest Art and Crafts trading post, “Guaranteed Hand Woven Navajo Indian Rug", marked "RYBY" in pencil and with its original cost of $40. Item #DA00141. In 1915, Chicago lawyer Julius Gans (1879-1953) abandoned his practice to open the Southwest Arts and Crafts Company, which manufactured and sold rugs and jewelry. Condition: The corners of the rug are slightly frayed and there are a few scattered stains in the white pattern that could be cleaned, but overall the rug is in very good condition.
