Description: In 1929, aviatrix Jean LaRene was one of the charter members (along with Amelia Earhart) of the women's pilot group "Ninety Nines".
LaRene had a long tenure as first Governor of the South Central Section. She worked for Command-Aire, American Eagle, Dallas Aviation School and Foote Aviation. LaRene was a Derby participant in 1930, 1931 and 1932, and made numerous endurance flights.
In this 9 3/4" x 7 3/4" photo she stands beside her airplane "Lone Star" with flight goggles atop her head.
She has inscribed: "To Clara – with best wishes and a lot of love – may we always be friends – Jean". Item #A00677.
Condition: Light crease directly across the top third of the image. Labelled in ink in another hand along the lower blank margin. Generally good condition and quite displayable with good contrast and resolution and a clear inscription.
