Description: American actress and comedian Mae West (1893-1980) neatly signed (probably in the 1970's) this black and white photo of herself wrapped in white fur and showcasing her trademark platinum curls and sultry makeup.
West’s almost seventy-year career began in vaudeville and Broadway in New York City. She later moved to Hollywood to star in movies like She Done Him Wrong (1933) and I’m No Angel (1933). She was a controversial star known for boldly bucking the system with her bawdy double entendres, sexual independence, and frequent problems with censorship. She was named the 15th greatest female star of classic American cinema by the American Film Institute.
8” x 10”. Item #A00790.
Condition: A light crease just below the signature, a speck of soil on the white fur near her shoulder, otherwise in good condition.
