Description: In 1953, jazz greats Benny Goodman and Louis Armstrong arranged to take their bands on the road together, but Goodman and Armstrong quarreled while rehearsing. The day after the April 17 opening at Carnegie Hall, Goodman didn't travel to Rhode Island with the rest, dropping out of the tour.
These two pages of notepaper were signed by much of the exceptional talent at the April 29, 1953 show at the R.P.I. Field House in Troy, New York: Louis Armstrong, Barney Bigard, Velma Middleton, Pierre Tallerie (Armstrong's road manager), Arvell Shaw, Ziggy Elman, Gene Krupa, Trummy Young, Steve Jordan, Sol Schlinger, Georgie Auld (?), Cozy Cole, Helen Ward, Joe Bushkin, and a second manager, Joe (Barnet?). Condition: Slight toning, very small tear from the edge through to the bottom hole punch on the second page, bottom interior corners bumped on both pages; none of those affect any of the autographs, and overall condition is excellent.
