Description: This 1947 baseball scorecard is signed by Ralph Kiner of the Pittsburgh Pirates and Joe Sabatella of the Albany Senators. In the 1940s, the Albany Senators were a Class A farm team for the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Ralph Kiner (1922-2014) was an outfielder for the Pittsburgh Pirates, the Chicago Cubs, and the Cleveland Indians during his professional playing career (1946-1955). After he retired from playing, he was the general manager of the Pacific Coast League San Diego Padres (1956-1960), then served as the announcer of the New York Mets from the team’s inception in 1962 until his death in 2014. Kiner was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1975.
Joe Sabatella (1923-2012) was a minor league baseball player who played first base on various teams throughout his lengthy career (1942-1953). He played for the Albany Senators for the 1947 season.
