Description: This drypoint was issued as the annual print of the Print Club of Albany for 1941-1942. It is pencil signed in full lower right: "Chauncey F. Ryder". The plate mark measures 8 3/4" x 11 3/4" on a 14" x 16 1/2" sheet of J. Whatman paper. Ryder's loose cross-hatch style creates a moody, somewhat stark, landscape.
Chauncey Foster Ryder (1868-1949) is a prominent early 20th c. American landscape artist who split his time between New Hampshire and New York City. His works are in the collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Corcoran Gallery, National Portrait Gallery, Art Institute of Chicago, etc. Item #PR00327.
Condition: Has two 1/2" pieces of mounting tape at the two upper corners (as issued), otherwise very good condition.
