Description

Description: We offer an unsigned Surrealist landscape painting 12” x 20” in a period frame with the outside dimensions 14 5/8” x 22 5/8”. It is painted in egg tempera on a high quality heavily gessoed panel. Item #FA00205.

Part ecological warning, part love story, this painting presents us with more questions than answers. The “figure;” a malformed hand with a single ear and a forlorn stare; is the central focus. She waits on a rock in the middle of a post-apocalyptic industrial landscape. Every flat surface is covered with a green muck. Buildings and half submerged telephone poles are rendered in radioactive seafoam green. There is a crack in the foundation but that’s the least of our protagonist’s problems. She seems to have no mouth or nose; perhaps a protective mutation? She is a product of evolution. She has painted her nails blue. She holds a flower. The last leaves of the only tree in sight blow in the wind.

Condition: A few errant marks in the delicate surface, very good condition overall.
