Description: American operatic tenor Charles Hackett (1889-1942) signed this photo of himself, in 1937, posing regally in his stage costume as Roméo, a role he held at the Metropolitan Opera from 1934 to 1939.
Hackett began his musical studies at the New England Conservatory in Boston with Arthur J. Hubbard and later in Florence, Italy with Vincenzo Lombardi. He sang in Italy, South America, with the Metropolitan Opera and the Lyric Opera of Chicago.
